The “Happy Easter & pupu cu l’ova” event, now in its third year, will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Piazza Palagonia, Corso Umberto, and Villa Butera, organized to celebrate the Easter holidays.
The aim of the event is to raise awareness among younger generations about the preservation of historical memory and territorial identity, focusing on a typical product like “U’ pupu cu’ l’ova,” a seasonal product linked to the Easter holidays. Organized by the Slow Food Convivium of Bagheria, together with the associations LLL4EU, Singcily Local Group, La Piana d’Or, and the APO Sicilia Consortium, the initiative enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Bagheria and the collaboration of the following schools: “I.C. Salvo D’Acquisto”, the Aurora Study Center, and the “Samot” Association.
The initiative will be supported by Panificio Conti, Antico Forno Valenti, Antica Forneria Scaduto, and Panifico D’Amato di Santa Flavia with displays of their Pupi cu l’ova (egg puppets). The event will take place throughout the day, with Easter trees being set up from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with decorations from the orange trees located along Corso Umberto I.
A procession is planned for this afternoon, starting at 5:00 p.m., featuring the Drummers of the Ciro Scianna Institute. It will depart from Piazza Garibaldi, proceed toward Corso Umberto I, and end at Villa Butera, where the highlight of the event will take place. It will continue until 8:00 p.m., with singing, theatrical, and artistic performances by the children, culminating in the hunt for the “Pupo cu l ova.”
Chiara Audia, the event’s creator and president of the LLL4EU Association, will coordinate the event. Valerio Barone, President of the Bagheria Slow Food Convivium, and Maurizio Giliberto, President of the Singcily Local Group, will introduce the event. Official greetings will be provided by Filippo Tripoli, Mayor of Bagheria, and Antonella Insinga, Councilor for Education, Sport, and Entertainment. There will be demonstration cooking, master classes, and workshops with master bakers and pastry chefs who will guide the students in preparing pupu cu l’ovu.
