Towards “Play and Inclusion Day”: Associations Working for the 2026 Edition

Sunday, May 24, 2026

Bagheria is preparing to once again celebrate the right to play, socialization, and inclusion. After a successful initial introductory meeting, the organizational process for Play and Inclusion Day continues, which this year will enliven our city on Sunday, May 24th. The event, now a well-established event for the area, will see the active involvement of numerous associations, organizations, and local entities, with the aim of offering residents a rich and varied program, running from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The key locations identified to host this year’s activities include Corso Umberto, the seaside village of Aspra, the Atrio Cirrincione, and the Atrio Cavaliere.
The first technical roundtable has already yielded numerous creative and inclusive proposals, which may be added at the next meeting: from impromptu art exhibitions to physical literacy workshops, from chess and bridge tournaments to traditional games revisited with an inclusive focus, to environmental education programs and civil protection activities, with the valuable support of units dedicated to safety and public support. The key theme that will inspire the displays, particularly along Corso Umberto, will be “Mismatched Socks,” a symbol of acceptance and appreciation of diversity.
To define the number of participating associations, the logistical distribution of spaces, and finalize the program of activities, a second operational meeting has been called for April 30th at 6:00 PM at Palazzo Butera.
The Municipal Administration invites all interested associations to participate in the meeting, emphasizing that the synergy between volunteers and municipal offices is the true driving force of this day, capable of promoting the well-being, growth, and development of children, teens, and adults through the extraordinary medium of play.
The initiative is promoted by the Department of Public Education, led by Councilor Antonella Insinga, with the collaboration of the Department of Social Policies led by Emanuele Tornatore, City Councilor Giusy Chiello, and Nunzio Gagliano, the creator and organizer of the Bagheria day.
