The Mediterranean Book Festival in Aspra
From May 22 to 24, 2026
From May 22 to 24, 2026, the Mediterranean Book Festival will be held in the seaside village of Aspra, promoted by the Bagheria Proloco Genius Loci, the Aspra Proloco, and Dr. Gino Gagliano, the event’s creator, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bagheria. The event will take place on the charming seaside terrace of Piazza Crocicchia, in the heart of the seaside village of Aspra.
The Festival was conceived as a space for encounter and dialogue between cultures, languages, and Mediterranean shores, a symbolic place where books become tools of knowledge, memory, and exchange. “The Festival was conceived as an opportunity to reflect on Mediterranean identity in its many dimensions: historical, social, and artistic,” the organizers state.
Aspra, with its maritime tradition and welcoming spirit, represents the ideal setting for an event that seeks to explore the themes of travel, migration, cultural influences, and the relationship between human beings, land, and the sea. The Festival presents the Mediterranean not only as a geographical space, but also as a shared symbolic universe, traversed by peoples, stories, encounters, and ideas. Through book presentations, conversations with authors, debates, artistic moments, and cultural insights, the Festival aims to offer the public an experience that combines reflection and participation, enhancing the human and cultural heritage of Mediterranean communities.
In a time marked by profound transformations and new global challenges, the Mediterranean Book Festival is a think tank open to interdisciplinary dialogue, in the belief that culture represents a fundamental tool for understanding the present and building the future.
