On the anniversary of his passing, the Bagheria municipal administration celebrates the memory of Peppino Saitta, a figure who left a profound mark on the city’s social and working history.
The commemorative event, entitled “The Community Remembers Peppino Saitta,” will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Villa Butera theater.
Peppino Saitta was an undisputed protagonist for Bagheria: in addition to his work as a trade unionist, he was President and a worker at the La Sicilia Building Cooperative, making a crucial contribution to writing a piece of Bagheria community history. The ceremony will be attended by institutions, family members, and figures who shared and supported Saitta’s commitment: in addition to institutional greetings from Bagheria’s mayor, Filippo Maria Tripoli, the event will be introduced by Emanuele Tornatore, Councilor for Social, Health, Youth, and Family Policies.
Speakers will include: Massimo Accolla, former director of LEGACOOP Sicilia; Provvidenza Tripoli, a lawyer and daughter of a worker at the La Sicilia Cooperative, as well as a city councilor; Giovanni Chinnici, a former worker and member of the La Sicilia Cooperative Board of Directors; and Father Francesco Michele Stabile, former parish priest of the San Giovanni Bosco parish.
The closing remarks will be delivered by Peppino Saitta’s family.
A photographic exhibition will accompany the meeting, retracing Peppino Saitta’s intense commitment, particularly the years dedicated to the La Sicilia Building Cooperative. The exhibition is curated by Pietro Pagano and the Saitta family.

“Remembering Peppino Saitta means honoring the values ​​of hard work, solidarity, and associations, principles that guided his life and the experience of the La Sicilia Building Cooperative, which gave dignity and a future to many Bagheria families,” stated Mayor Tripoli and Councilor Tornatore. “We invite the public to participate in this event to keep alive the memory of a man who was a beacon for our region.”
