Start of the City and Tourist Shuttle

1 June 2025 to 31 August 2025

The city shuttle service will be activated from 1 June, an initiative designed to improve internal mobility and, at the same time, enhance the area’s tourist offer.
The service will operate from 1 June 2025 to 31 August 2025. It is important to emphasise that the ‘city shuttle’ service in this summer season is experimental in nature and, having not only a tourist purpose but also a social purpose, will be free of charge seven days a week, in the morning, afternoon and evening (at weekends).
The service will consist of two routes: a proximity service to the municipal cemetery and a tourist shuttle bus connecting Bagheria with the seaside village of Aspra.
This service represents a step towards a city that aims to be more accessible, seeking to meet the needs of its citizens and to offer visitors an easier experience. Particular attention has been paid to the connection to Aspra in order to enhance its attractions and facilitate its use by tourists.

The proximity service for the municipal cemetery aims to support citizens unable to travel to the municipal cemetery independently. The frequency of the runs will be 2 routes per week, with a duration of approximately 2 hours per route, on routes established by the municipal administration.

Outward/Return Route Historic Center/Cemetery:

Terminal 3: Piazza Madrice
Meeting Point 1: Via Libertà corner of Via Paolo Borsellino
Meeting Point 2: Via O. Costantino
Terminal 4: Cemetery

The Bagheria – Aspra tourist shuttle bus service aims to facilitate the travel of tourists and citizens between the center of Bagheria and the seaside resort of Aspra, promoting the beauty of the area. The transportation of people to and from the Aspra hamlet will take place by shuttle, for non-predetermined destinations along the established route, by telephone reservation and as soon as possible by reservation via the Tourist App provided by the Municipality of Bagheria (in consideration of the number of seats available).

Municipally owned vehicles of category M1 will be used with a maximum of 9 seats including the driver. The service is intended for the transportation of people with a minimum age of 14 without an escort, or younger people with an escort. Wheelchair users must report the need for transport in advance.
The frequency will be daily with 2 lines active from 9:00 to 19:00.
Departure times from the Terminus (Term 1: Wojtyla School): 09:00 / 10:30 / 12:00 / 16:00 / 17:30 / 19:00.

“We are aware that for a city like Bagheria that aspires to be an increasingly popular tourist destination, this is a first step, after last year’s experiment, and that we must always do better – says the mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli – this shuttle service responds to a dual need: on the one hand, to offer support to our citizens, especially those with motor difficulties or those without their own transport, to reach an important place like the municipal cemetery. On the other, we want to give a boost to the tourism sector. The direct and frequent connection between Bagheria and Aspra adds to what we are doing to enhance the territory”.

“We want tourists to be able to easily discover the wonders of our city, from the historic villas to our enchanting seaside village – says the councilor for Tourism, Francesco Gurrado – thus contributing to the image of Bagheria as a prestigious tourist destination. This Administration continues to work for a more inclusive, accessible city, ready to best welcome anyone who chooses to visit it.”

It is reiterated that, since this is an experimental phase, free access is provided for all users, possibly postponing to a future provision, for the definitive activation of the service in question, the decision on the fee to be paid for its use.
The Administration has assessed that sustainable mobility is part of high-quality mobility and transport systems also from an environmental, economic and social perspective. In fact, the objectives of this Administration include the strengthening of sustainable mobility through collective mobility services that encourage the use of low environmental impact vehicles. This is in order to undertake actions aimed at: improving vehicular circulation by ensuring traffic decongestion along the main municipal roads; allowing citizens and visitors, without means of transport, the possibility of moving around easily and knowing and visiting the places of greatest historical, artistic and landscape interest; promoting the area with its cultural, naturalistic and gastronomic tourist attractions. In the municipal area there are no local public transport services or taxis and in consideration of the increase in vehicular flows towards the marine area, the use of the “City Shuttle” would favor transfers towards the coastal area, which, due to the works that are affecting the Baldassare Scaduto course, are currently inconvenient. The start of the “City Shuttle” service would also allow to expand the services that in the year 2024 were carried out with the Shuttle acquired by the GAC-Golfo di Termini Imerese, within the framework of the FEAMPA 2021/2027-Priority 3 National Program.
