Spring Carnival: A parade of people amidst colors and the sea

Monday, April 20, 2026

On Monday, April 20, 2026, Bagheria and the seaside hamlet of Aspra will be awash in color for the “Spring Carnival – The Carnival of the City and the Sea – The Carnival of Peoples,” an event that unites the tradition of Carnival with the rebirth of spring, celebrating the union between the city, the sea, and diverse cultures.
The event was created to finally bring to life the parade canceled on February 17th, Mardi Gras, due to bad weather, transforming it into a grand spring celebration.
The event is scheduled for the early morning at 8:30 a.m. with the gathering of the allegorical floats on Via Libertà and the parade of students from the city schools.
The parade will then move along Corso Butera, Corso Umberto, and Via Diego D’Amico. The parade will conclude in Piazza Levante, where each school will present its works and costumes created for the occasion. The highlight of the event will be the grand parade involving students of all levels, from elementary school to middle school. It will not only be a parade, but the culmination of a creative journey that has seen the students engaged in the creation of original costumes and works.
The initiative is the result of a collaboration between local institutions and local associations. The event is sponsored by Metropolitan City of Palermo and the Municipality of Bagheria, with the support of Pro Loco Aspra APS and Amare Aspra.
