Bagheria’s rendezvous with culture and the big screen is fast approaching. On Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM, the prestigious Film Poster Section of the Guttuso Museum at Villa Cattolica will host the presentation of the book “Come in un film. Viaggio nell’Italia ispirata al cinema” (Altrimedia Edizioni), written by journalist Anna Giammetta.
The event, promoted and sponsored by the Municipality of Bagheria, will not only be an opportunity to discover a refined “narrated guide” through Italy’s most iconic film sets, but will also become a genuine discussion table on key dynamics for local development: film tourism, food, and the role of film museums.
Anna Giammetta’s essay, drawing on her experience at the Cinema Office of the Municipality of Matera, explores how films and fiction (from James Bond to Imma Tataranni, to the masterpieces of Oscar-winning Bagheria director Giuseppe Tornatore, such as The Starman and Cinema Paradiso) become powerful drivers of tourist attraction. Film tourism today represents a strategic resource for the local economy, capable of converting film imagery into real visitor flows.
In this context, the choice of Villa Cattolica takes on extraordinary symbolic value: hosting the debate within a film museum (specifically, the rich collection of film posters) demonstrates how the preservation of visual memory can become a living space for reflection and cultural and tourism promotion. Anna Giammetta’s book goes beyond simply mapping locations, dedicating extensive focus to the food and gastronomic traditions that appear on the big screen. The connection between cinema and food represents one of the strongest identifying traits of our country: the table, in films, is not Never a simple backdrop, but a narrative element that recounts the culture, history, and hospitality of a community, itself becoming a metaphor for a sensory journey through Italy’s regions.

“Hosting this event at Villa Cattolica allows us to connect the dots of a narrative that is at home in Bagheria,” says Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture, Daniele Vella. “Anna Giammetta’s essay offers us the tools to understand how a region’s audiovisual vocation can translate into film tourism, museum promotion, and the economy of beauty.”

The debate, moderated by Bagheria Municipality journalist Marina Mancini, will feature contributions from Filippo Maria Tripoli, Mayor of Bagheria; Daniele Vella, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture; Angelo Guerrera, Director of the VII Culture Department; Professor Gaetano La Mantia (ACGS – Friends of Cinema on the Big Screen); Professor Domenico Aiello, curator of the CineClub Capitol Bagheria festival; and Rosalba Colla, director of the Animaphix festival and professor of Film Tourism.
Citizens and the press are invited to join this imaginative journey through films, flavors, and regions. Admission to the museum’s film poster room is free during the book presentation.
