Bagheria hosts the first international ‘Walk and Roll 2025’ event

in support of dysimmune neuropathies

From 03 to 04 May 2025

This initiative aims to bring communities together to raise awareness and support people affected by Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN) and other related rare neurological conditions.
These autoimmune diseases affect peripheral nerves, causing progressive muscle weakness (especially in the legs and arms), tingling, loss of reflexes and, in severe cases, significant disability.
The inaugural event will be held in Bagheria, marking the beginning of an annual global series that will touch several countries to promote awareness, community involvement and support for research into these rare diseases.

‘The First International Walk & Roll in Bagheria is intended as a celebration of resilience and community spirit, but also as a catalyst for change,’ explains international contact person, Nancy Di Salvo, who tells us: ‘international volunteers of the Foundation from Germany and South Africa will participate in the initiative, witnessing the global commitment of the GBS-CIDP network’.

The event program includes:
Saturday, May 3, 2025: Illumination of Villa Butera with the colors blue and green, symbols of awareness of dysimmune neuropathies.
Sunday, May 4, 2025: Walk & Roll – Solidarity walk. The solidarity walk will take place with the following program:

9:00 am: Registration at Corso Umberto I, at Via Dell’Arco
9:30 am: Departure of the Solidarity Walk towards Via Diego D’Amico n. 2.
10:30 am: Inauguration of a solidarity bench.
The event is open to patients, caregivers, families, healthcare professionals and members of the local community. The Walk & Roll route will wind from Corso Umberto I (at Via dell’Arco) to the DDS II Circolo “G. Cirincione” in Via Diego D’Amico.
The Municipal Administration invites citizens to participate in large numbers in this important initiative of solidarity and awareness.
