The Municipality of Bagheria is hosting a solo exhibition by the artist Frattini, titled “SICILIANITÀ – Art • Identity • Sicily,” within the historic setting of Villa Aragona Cutò. The opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday, September 1st, at 4:30 PM, attended by the Mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli, and the Councillor for Entertainment, Antonella Insinga.
The exhibition offers a profound, contemporary reflection on Sicily’s visual heritage. Through a bold expressive style, the artworks aim to revitalize traditional iconography without rejecting it or erasing its memory; the past is viewed not as a relic to be preserved “under glass,” but as a living code to be rewritten and updated for the present day.
Historical icons, figures, and elements of Sicilian tradition are removed from their original contexts and placed in a contemporary setting through the addition of modern elements—such as tattoos, logos, words, and contemporary accessories—that radically transform how they are perceived. The artist’s work demonstrates that every era holds both the right and the duty to reinterpret its own visual imagery, ensuring that tradition does not devolve into mere nostalgia or a folkloric cliché.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until September 10th, with visiting hours from Monday to Thursday (8:30 AM to 6:00 PM) and on Fridays (8:30 AM to 1:30 PM).
