The Municipality of Bagheria presents “SENZA. Of pain and love”:
Gaetano Perricone’s intimate and courageous story at Villa Butera
Thursday, March 26, 2026
A raw journey through the depths of the soul, where the deepest pain intertwines with the indomitable power of love. The Municipality of Bagheria is sponsoring the presentation of the book “SENZA. Del dolore e dell’amore” (Algra Editore), the latest literary work by journalist Gaetano Perricone. The event will take place on March 26, 2026, at 5:30 PM in the Sala Martorana Fumagalli of Villa Butera.
The book is a chronicle of the soul. “SENZA” is the existential condition of those who remain. The book is an unfiltered autobiographical tale that begins with an indelible date: April 15, 2024. From that moment, Gaetano Perricone retraces the struggle of his “sweet and indomitable lioness,” Daniela, a woman capable of facing the aftermath of devastating brain surgery with incredible fortitude. It’s the story of a love that doesn’t end with physical separation, but becomes memory, a story, and a starting point for questioning the meaning of care and the inestimable value of public healthcare.
The meeting, sponsored by the city administration, will feature greetings from Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture Daniele Vella, a conversation between the author and journalist Martino Grasso and Emanuela Di Fatta of Samot, a nonprofit organization specializing in palliative care. Readings of key passages from the work will be performed by City Councilor Giusy Chiello, responsible for Communications. Journalist Marina Mancini will introduce and moderate the presentation.
A special video contribution will be provided by Dr. Deborah Maradini, psycho-oncologist and author of the book’s preface.
Gaetano Perricone, 69, a Palermo native and professional journalist, boasts a long career also linked to local narratives, with several publications dedicated to Etna and social narratives, including “Diversamente nonno” (2019) and “La scalata della vita” (2020). With “SENZA,” Perricone delivers his most intimate work to readers, transforming a personal tragedy into a hymn to resilience.
The city administration invites residents to participate in this event celebrating love “that never ends, but changes location.”
