The David di Donatello Awards’ ‘LE NOTTI D’ORO’ return to Bagheria
On 28 and 29 October 2025
On 28 and 29 October 2025, the Cinema Capitol Multisala in Bagheria will once again host “Le Notti d’Oro”, the international short film festival promoted by the French César Film Academy and the Italian Film Academy – David di Donatello Awards, in collaboration with the Animaphix Film Festival. The screenings, which are free of charge and subject to availability, will be held at the Cinema Capitol Multisala (theatre A and theatre B) on Tuesday 28 (8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 9:00 p.m.) and Wednesday 29 October (8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 6:30 p.m.).
The programme includes a selection of fiction, documentary and animated short films from different countries around the world, which have been awarded the most prestigious prizes by their respective film academies, such as the César, Oscar, Bafta and David di Donatello, as well as Taiwan’s Golden Horse and Ukraine’s Golden Dziga. This film marathon can be enjoyed in three sessions: matinees designed for local secondary schools, an afternoon session and an evening session for the general public.
The festival will feature, among others: Domenica sera by Matteo Tortone (David di Donatello Award, Italy), an unpredictable drama about an encounter between a boy and a girl in the suburbs of Turin; I’m Not a Robot by Victoria Warmerdam (Oscar for Best Short Film, USA), about the grotesque identity crisis of a woman who, at her computer, cannot pass the CAPTCHA tests to verify her virtual identity; Mariupol. A Hundred Nights by Sofiia Melnyk (Golden Dziga Award, Ukraine), a sombre animation about a little girl who wakes up one morning to the sounds of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict; Beurk! by Loïc Espuche (César Award for Best Animated Short Film, France), about the tenderness of the first kiss between two teenagers at summer camp; The Building and Burning in a Refugee Camp by Dennis Harvey (Guldbagge Award, Sweden), a direct and unadorned documentary about the destruction of a refugee camp in Dublin by a group of extremists.
The special guest during the evening screenings on Tuesday 28 October at 9 p.m. will be Manuela Pineschi, Secretary General of the Italian Film Academy – David di Donatello Awards. The screenings will be introduced by Rosalba Colla and Marco Grifò, director and film programmer of the Animaphix Film Festival.
‘Hosting “Le Notti d’Oro” again this year is a source of pride for our city,’ says Filippo Maria Tripoli, Mayor of Bagheria. “This is an event of international importance that consolidates Bagheria’s role in the European cultural landscape and enriches the cultural offering of the area, generating positive impacts in terms of education, tourism and the economy. Supporting culture means investing in the future of our community and in the growth of new generations.”
‘Le Notti d’Oro represents a valuable opportunity for Bagheria to reaffirm the central role that culture and cinema can play in the development of an open, inclusive and forward-looking community,’ says Daniele Vella, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Bagheria. “We strongly believe in the educational and social power of culture and are happy to support an initiative that enriches our territory and promotes dialogue between cultures, languages and generations”.
“Bringing “Le Notti d’Oro” to Bagheria for the fourth consecutive year means continuing to build spaces for conscious and accessible viewing. It is a concrete opportunity to create dialogue between our territory and the world through the universal language of cinema,‘ says Rosalba Colla, director of Animaphix and president of the QB Association. She continues, ’I would like to thank the municipal administration and educational institutions which, with foresight and sensitivity, continue to support this initiative, promoting cinema as a tool for educational growth and a space for dialogue and reflection on the present.”
