The municipal administration of Bagheria met today with all the participants in the ‘Premio Città di Bagheria’, the highly successful singing competition, to officially thank them for their participation and present them with a commemorative scroll. The competition, sponsored by the Municipality of Bagheria, ARS, and the Federico II Foundation, in its first edition, was conceived by artistic director Pippo Balistreri and saw the participation of 59 aspiring singers and musicians from all over Sicily, with 25 of them reaching the final evening. The young talents who took to the podium were: Alessandro Giordano in 1st place, Greta Barone in 2nd place, and Valeria Piedimonte in 3rd place.
The entire final event will be broadcast on TeleOne (Channel 16 on digital terrestrial television) in prime time on Friday 24 October at 8.15 p.m. It will be an opportunity to relive the emotions and performances of these young talents.

‘The success of this first edition of the “Premio Città di Bagheria” confirms our desire to invest in culture and young talent,’ said Mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli, expressing his appreciation. “I would like to personally thank Pippo Balistreri for his passion and professionalism, and all the young people who brought their art to Bagheria. Today’s meeting is a small gesture to say thank you and remind them that their talent is a precious resource for our region.”
Councillor Antonella Insinga added, ‘We want the City of Bagheria Award to become a regular event, a point of reference for young Sicilian musicians. The enthusiasm shown by the participants and the high level of their performances encourage us to start working on the next edition already.’
Artistic director Pippo Balistreri added: ‘Seeing the stage in Bagheria lit up by so many young artists was very exciting. This award was created to give them an important showcase, which we intend to replicate. Friday’s broadcast on TeleOne will allow the whole of Sicily to enjoy the show and the artistic level achieved. I would like to thank the administration for believing in this idea and supporting it wholeheartedly.’
