From 30 September to 15 October 2023, the personal exhibition of the architect Paolo Rizzo will be held at Villa San Cataldo.
The exhibition, which can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 to 19:00, is sponsored by the Municipality of Bagheria and will be inaugurated on 30 September at 16:00.
This is the first exhibition that the artist exhibits in Bagheria. Rizzo was particularly appreciated in other group exhibitions in the Sicilian capital. Professor of visual and plastic arts, I started drawing at the age of 10 using mainly tempera. His first oil work dates back to 1965, first on hardback canvas and then on real canvases and a wooden frame. As a self-taught he learned the chiaroscuro technique with all colours, charcoal, pencil, watercolour, pastels and copying, for practice, the great artists of the past from Leonardo to Caravaggio.
<<I have always chased a role – says the artist – but it wasn’t very easy, I realized that the dream world was the most suitable technique for my research. Lately, in my mature age, I have begun to portray the modernity of this century of ours, painting cars, pret-porter clothes, food advertisements, commercial clothes, in short, everything that we all use every day, without distinction, men, women and children, so that in a few century whoever observes us and considers us archaic will have a vision of the century we have lived>>.
In addition to the artist, the mayor of Bagheria Filippo Maria Tripoli, the councilor for Entertainment Giusy Chiello and the councilor Antonella Insinga will take part in the inauguration.
