Starting December 12, the Guttuso Museum in Villa Cattolica will host the solo exhibition “Confina Menti” by artist Giacoma Venuti, aka Giko. The exhibition, which has already been successfully presented at the Mafia Museum in Salemi and in Paris (Montmartre district), will open on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 5:30 pm.
The inauguration will be attended by: the mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli, the deputy mayor and councilor for culture, Daniele Vella, the curator and art historian, Melissa Acquesta, and the artist.
“Confina Menti” presents approximately forty previously unseen works created by Giko during the long lockdown period. This experience of social and human distancing has become a powerful source of inspiration for the artist and reflection on the crisis of interpersonal relationships.
Giko, an internationally acclaimed and recognized artist, abandons the use of bright colors in this production to embrace the expressive power of monochrome black and white. This contrast is not only a stylistic choice, but an indispensable symbolic element: the interplay of opposites between light and darkness guides the viewer on a labyrinthine introspective journey into the human soul, exploring the constant dialogue between psyche and eros, between mind and heart.
The artist’s goal is clear: to awaken dormant consciences and push humanity to free itself from conditioning, “extracting light from the darkness of intolerance, self-pity, and isolation.” As symbolized by the image of a brain chosen for the poster, the exhibition offers a comprehensive vision of humanity, in constant conflict and harmony between reason and emotion.
