Demonstration against violence against women: Monday 9 October

Bagheria against violence against women and gender differences. There are many, too many tragedies, news of feminicides that are read every day in the pages of newspapers and on the web and for this reason, as well as to respond to the appeal of a mother from Bagheria whose daughter was the subject of physical and psychological violence on the part of the comrade who was brought to justice, the municipal administration of Bagheria led by the mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli, organized, together with numerous associations, trade union representatives, citizen service clubs who responded to the appeal, the demonstration on Monday 9 October. The mother from Bagheria of the girl who was the victim of violence turned to the municipal administration to organize a public event in order to raise awareness in the entire community against violence against women and to push the latter and not be afraid to report violence and abuse and the administration has also facilitated the organization through a preparatory meeting for the event which was held on July 5th which was followed by the first date of the event being postponed due to the excessive heat and fires which characterized the end of July.
The event will be held on Monday 9 October, starting at 9.30 am; the march will start from via Diego D’Amico, in front of the Carducci middle school, it will arrive by going up from Corso Umberto I, up to Villa Butera, where in the courtyard there will be some reflection interventions on how to correctly deal with cases of gender violence and help victims to find the courage to report. The event will be attended by the mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli, the municipal council, the president of the municipal council Michele Sciortino and representatives of the council and all the associations, unions, institutions, and representative members of civil society and a representation of the students of each city school. Taking the floor for testimonies on the topic are Dr. Viviana Cannova, responsible for the Cassiopea secret refuge structure, a representative of the Bagheria Anti-Violence Center and the lawyer Rosa Maria Sciortino, the president of the CPO of the COA of Termini Imerese, the lawyer Debora Sansone and her colleague president of the CPO of the Council of the Bar Association of Palermo Ninni Terminelli. Among the associations that have joined: Caritas city, Club services citizens: Rotary, Lions, Inner Wheel, Anpi, DonnAttiva, CGIL Camera del Lavoro Bagheria, Coordination of Women and Gender Policies CGIL Palermo, CGIL SPI Sicily, Youth Council, Fidapa, Committee users of the Bagheria consultancy, Joint Association of the State Police, Carabinieri Penitentiary Police Financial Police, Equal Opportunities Committees of the Council of the Bar Association of Palermo and of T. Imerese, CASB Coordination of Associations of the Bagheria district, Parishes, school management.
