September 21 to 30, 2024
From September 21 to 30, 2024, Bagheria will host the 70th European Heritage Convention, a major event organized by Faro Convention – Citizen of Europe, under the patronage of the City of Bagheria.
The initiative, entitled “Our Good: A Heritage on the Way” is part of the broader context of the European Heritage Days 2024, aimed at enhancing cultural heritage as an element of connection between people and territories.
The opening ceremony will be held on Sept. 21 at 4:30 p.m. at the Fumagalli-Martorana Hall (formerly Borremans) of Villa Butera, the representative seat of the Bagheria City Council. The event will be attended by Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture Daniele Vella, who will stress the importance of this event for the promotion of the city’s cultural heritage.
The Faro Convention association, accredited by the Council of Europe, chose Bagheria because of its rich history and artistic heritage. The goal is to enhance the common good by promoting knowledge of cultural heritage as a foundation for the harmonious growth of the younger generations.
During the 10-day event, numerous activities will be organized, including a contemporary art exhibition featuring the works of 30 Sicilian and non-Sicilian artists and an unprecedented performance entitled “Cuore di Sirena” curated by Francesca Picciurro, Marzia Cillari, Emanuela Fai and Stefania Matta.
“The European Heritage Days 2024 represent an opportunity to discover the beauty of Bagheria and to reflect on the value of cultural heritage as an element of identity and social cohesion,” – says Councillor Daniele Vella – ”we thank the Faro Convetion association and the architect Rosa Anna Argento who chairs it.”
