Bagheria and Aspra are colorful:
“The Carnival of the City and the Sea… the Carnival of the People”
From February 14 to 17, 2026
Carnival is just around the corner, and the Bagheria municipal administration, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the City Council, thanks to the organization of Pro Loco Aspra APS, are preparing and presenting the program for Carnival 2026. This year, the celebration is renewed in the spirit of tradition, inclusion, and the valorization of diverse cultures.
From February 14 to 17, 2026, the streets of the city center and the seaside village of Aspra will transform into a stage animated by floats, costume parades, music, and activities designed for all ages.
The theme chosen for this edition, “The Carnival of Peoples,” aims to celebrate the richness of the identities and histories that coexist in our community, transforming the festival into a moment of encounter, dialogue, and universal sharing.
The program is as follows:
- Saturday, February 14th – 4:00 PM – Official opening with the “Carnival of the Peoples” along Corso Umberto I: two allegorical floats, musical entertainment, and a large community celebration will kick off the event.
- Sunday, February 15th – 4:00 PM – The Carnival moves to Aspra with the Carnival of the Sea: floats, music, and a costume parade will enliven the waterfront, transforming the village into a vibrant festive scene.
- Monday, February 16th – 8:30 AM The little ones will have their turn with the “Carnival of the Little Ones,” dedicated to boys and girls from all the schools in the municipal educational coordination group. The parade will start from Via Libertà and pass through Corso Butera and Corso Umberto, concluding in Piazza Garibaldi.
- Tuesday, February 17th – 8:30 AM The grand finale with the “Carnival of the Peoples,” aimed at elementary, middle, and high school students. The procession will start from Via Libertà and march along Corso Butera, Corso Umberto, and Via Diego D’Amico, ending in Piazza Levante, where each school will present clothing and works inspired by the year’s theme.
“The theme ‘The Carnival of Peoples’ is an invitation to view schools and communities as meeting places, where differences do not divide but enrich,” says Councilor for Education Antonella Insinga. “The participation of schools, with their work and ideas, is the beating heart of this event: a way to remind us that integration is not an abstract concept, but a daily practice that is built together.”
