Friday, August 8, 2025

The Anchovy Museum, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bagheria led by Mayor Filippo Maria Tripoli and the Presidency of the Municipal Council led by President Andrea Sciortino, who holds the delegation for the seaside village of Aspra, will host the screening of the short film “Angels Exist.” The event, promoted by the association “Combatti la malattia con un Sorriso” (Fight Disease with a Smile), will be held on August 8, 2025, at 9:30 p.m. at the Anchovy and Maritime Arts Museum, located at Strada Comunale Cotogni n° 1 in Aspra.
“Gli Angeli Esistono” is a short film that pays tribute to the escort service, telling the story of a young man from the 1970s named Nicolò. The film recounts his desire to join the police and the escort service, motivated by images of the massacres of 1992. Nicolò wanted to give a voice to those who remained silent and convey the message that “man is not a sacrificial victim.” The short film aims to highlight the importance of fighting crime without weapons and without silence, supporting those who oppose it and promoting a vision of legality among young people.
The short film, written and performed by Emanuele Beltrame, runs approximately 44 minutes and will be followed by a discussion. The screening offers an opportunity for the community to reflect and discuss fundamental values. The goal is to remember the people of the escorts not only on anniversaries, but also to recognize their commitment and emotions, “so that they are not forgotten.” “Living in silence, being the shadow of those who must protect, and being ready for any eventuality, risking one’s life” is the reality of these “wingless angels.”
The Presidency of the City Council will also sponsor the subsequent performance, “Italy According to Paolo,” which will be held on August 22, 2025, again at the Anchovy Museum in Aspra.
