Villa Cattolica, home to the Guttuso Museum, has agreed to an important artistic exchange with MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto), founded in 1987 as a functional body of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
From the end of October 2025, visitors to the Guttuso Museum at Villa Cattolica will be able to admire Renato Guttuso’s painting “Balcone” (Figures, table and balcony; Two figures in the studio)“, a 1942 work, an oil on canvas measuring 168x128x4 cm, on loan from MART. The work arrived in Bagheria in exchange for the painting ‘Crowd at the Stadium”, 1965, oil on canvas, 285×206 cm. ‘Folla allo Stadio’ is part of the Guttuso Museum Collection in the legal form of a loan for use granted by the Guttuso Archives, which are the owners. Guttuso’s work “Folla allo Stadio” has been loaned to MART for the major exhibition “Le Sfide del Corpo” (The Challenges of the Body), which will be held in Rovereto from 31 October 2025 to 22 March 2026. Therefore, for the entire duration of the exhibition at MART, and until 22 March 2026, the public in Bagheria and Sicily will have the opportunity to admire the painting “Balcony (Figures, table and balcony; Two figures in the studio)” at Villa Cattolica, thus strengthening the link between the institutions and enhancing the artistic heritage of the master Renato Guttuso.
